MSC
Cruises USA has emerged as a fast-rising star in the European-style premium cruise market.
Backed by the world's second largest cargo shipper, Mediterranean Shipping Company is a well
capitalized shipping company that's determined to enter the Cruise industry in grand style.
The company launched a $3 billion expansion program in 2003 with the introduction of the new
MSC Lirica in 2003. MSC Cruises added the MSC Armonia (built in 2001) to its fleet in spring
of 2004 and the new MSC Opera debuted in June 2004. The line purchased the MSC Sinfonia (built
in 2002) in July 2004 (the ship began cruising in March 2005) and has two new 2,600-passenger
ships MSC Musica(2006) and MSC Orchestra (2007). The line has recently contracted it's first
mega ship in excess o 100,000 gross tons.
Today, MSC Cruises is the industry's fastest growing cruise line and they clearly determined to
make a name for themselves. As part of this growth strategy, MSC has hired many cruise industry
veterans, including President Richard Sasso - who may be best known for building the Celebrity
Cruise brand. Many of the halmark elements of the Celebrity experience are being developed at MSC
Cruises. Because of a lack of name recognition and branding, MSC Cruises are often priced like a
budget cruise line, yet the onboard experience is more similar to the premium cruise
experience.
MSC Cruises used to be called Mediterranean Shipping Company, and in the past focused their
itineraries to that part of the world. Today, MSC Cruises is bringing their friendly and attentive
Italian service beyond the Mediterranean to the Caribbean and South America.
MSC's Italian cruises to the Old World, as well as their Caribbean cruises, will let you savor
their unique Italian Hospitality. MSC aims to make the passenger feel part of the family on modern
cruise ships where you are not just a face in the crowd.
MSC can take you to Ajaccio, Alexandria, Almeria, Antalya, Ashdod, Barcelona, Beirut, Cadiz,
Cagliari, Cairo, Capri, Casablanca, Catania, Civitavecchia, Funchal, Genoa, Granada, Gibraltar,
